HISTORY OF THE SERIES

  • In 2018 the series was started by Marc Warnock with help from Wild Things Karts and the Tri-State Kart Club as a way to promote the tracks to drivers at each track in hopes of them crossing over to race at both facilities. The series was called the Northern CT Kart Series and consisted of 7 Divisions and featuring 3 divisions from each track and the Sr. Champ Animals. It was a six race series spread between the two facilities. The division champions for this season were Rookie Champ: Darren Krantz Jr., Tiger Sprint & Jr. Sportsman: Dylan Houghton, Jr. Outlaw: Jason Chapman, Jr. Champ: Dylan Dinsmoor, Sr. Outlaw: Gregory Estell, and Sr. Champ Animal: Tim Sullivan

  •  For the 2019 season Wild Thing Karts decided that they were not going to have the Sr. Champ Animal division full-time. Marc decided to take on the series solo and run it as a six race challenge series between the two tracks for the Sr. Champ Animal division. The Championship for this season was won by Ryan Borges.

  • After a year hiatus because of COVID the series returned and launched as a five race touring series for 2021. The plan for the season was to only promote the Sr. Champ Animal division around the Northeast and showcase the talent that races in the class. The series name was changed to the Northeast Sr. Champ Kart Series. With some help from some parents and sponsors it was decided to have the Jr. Sportsman A class as a part of the series for four races as well. The first two tracks that were picked to be a part of the 2021 season were Stafford Speedway home of the Wild Thing Karts and Pomfret Speedway home of the Tri-State Kart Club. Then the search was on to find three other tracks to race at. The plan was too keep the tracks all within reasonable distance of each other. After some research and tapping into connections the other three tracks that were selected were Poughkeepsie Raceway in NY,  Londonderry Speedway and Claremont Motorsports Park both in NH. The champions for this season were Jr. Sportsman A: Oliver Quinney and Sr. Champ Animal: Tim Sullivan

  • The first full season of the series saw some growing pains but was well received by the drivers and fans. Sponsors from local businesses to big corporations have come on board to help build the series. After the 2021 season with the series being so well received it was decided that for the 2022 season a sixth race at LST Motorsports Park in Richmond, ME will be added. The series also is adding the Jr. Champ WKA Black Plate division for drivers aged 12-15 as well. This brought about the decision for another series name change which will be the name of the series going forward. The new name of the series is the Northeastern Champ Kart Series fueled by VP Racing Fuels. The 2022 Division Champions were Jr. Sportsman: Tyler Carfo, Jr. Champ: Dylan Houghton, and Sr. Champ: Ryan Borges
